The Print tab defines the credit union's receipt and check options. Use the following links to learn more about the options in each section of the Print tab:

To access the Credit Union Profile - Print tab, under Administration on the Portico Explorer Bar, click Profiles. On the Profiles top menu bar, click System, then click Credit Union. The Credit Union Profile window appears. Click the Print tab.

How do I? and Field Help

The following fields and check boxes appear in the Options section on the Print tab:

Field/Check Box Description

Receipts

The type of receipts used by the credit union. The valid options are:

N - Not supported. System default.

E - Standard format for continuous-form receipts. The system prints the transaction information in the pre-printed boxes on the receipt. The date displayed is the effective date of the transaction. The summary information is limited.

B - Standard format for continuous-form receipts. The system prints the transaction information in the pre-printed boxes on the receipt. The business date (system date) of the transaction displays. The summary information is limited.

C - Alternate format for continuous-form and document- insert receipts. The system prints a transaction summary on the bottom portion of the receipt. Both the effective date and the business date appear. You can use the Receipt Marketing Message window to create a marketing message that will print after the transaction summary. The continuous-form receipt must measure 9 1/2 in. wide x 7 in. long (includes tractor feed paper). The stub portion of the receipt must be 4 in. Document-insert receipts are 8 1/2 in. wide 9 1/8 in. long. The print head of the receipt printer must be aligned with the perforation between the top and bottom portions of the receipt. If Enable Name and Address is selected, Portico prints the member's name and address on the left side of the bottom portion of the receipt. The transaction summary is then printed on the bottom portion of the next receipt. If you select receipt option C and the print name and address option, the system prints two receipts. If the Print Next Payment Date on Receipts check box is selected on the Loan Profiles - Account Information tab, Portico prints the loan's next payment date on the transaction summary line at the bottom portion of the members receipt for loan payment transactions.

D - Same as option C with the following exceptions: Roll receipts are 3 inches wide using the Epson TMU 375. If Enable Name and Address is selected, Portico prints the receipt and prompts the user for an envelope Insert receipts are 3 1/2 x 7 inches using a Lexmark 2380 or Epson TMU 375. Insert receipts for option D are not for member receipts, but for special transactions such as Cash Movements and Teller Closing information when using Cash Control and Teller Administration. Continuous form receipts are 3 2/3 x 7 inches using a Lexmark 2380 or Epson LQ 870. For insert receipts and continuous form receipts, if Enable Name and Address is selected, Portico will print the name and address on the left and the transaction summary on the right. Otherwise, if Enable Name and Address is selected, Portico will print the member's name and address on the left side of the top portion of the two-part receipt. The transaction summary receipt. The print head of the receipt printer prints on the bottom portion of the same receipt. The print head of the receipt printer must be aligned with the top of receipt form. If the Print Next Payment Date on Receipts check box is selected on the Loan Profiles - Account Information tab, Portico prints the loan's next payment date on the transaction summary line at the bottom portion of the members receipt for loan payment transactions.

P - Same as option D with the following exceptions: The envelope information prints before the receipt information. With roll receipts, if Enable Name and Address is selected, the system prints an insert receipt with the name and address on the left and the transaction summary on the right. When N, B, E, C, D or P appears in this field and the receipt printer is not specified on the Print Profile dialog box, the system will complete the transaction but will not produce a receipt. If the Print Next Payment Date on Receipts check box is selected on the Loan Profiles - Account Information tab, Portico prints the loan's next payment date on the transaction summary line at the bottom portion of the members receipt for loan payment transactions.

(Portico Host: 905 Transaction - RECEIPTS field)

Check Format

The check format used by the credit union. Credit unions selecting the alternate check format can also specify whether the system should print the member number and the CAN on the top portion of the check. The valid options are:

A - Standard check format. Valid for continuous-form checks only. The check does not fit in a standard 10 window envelope. Continuous-form checks are 8 1/2 in. wide x 11 in. long (does not include tractor-feed paper). The description, vendor code, and general ledger account and amount print on the check stub.

B - Alternate format for continuous-form and document- insert checks. The system prints the free-form transaction summary on the stub portion of the check. The member number and the CAN print on the face of the check. The continuous-form check must measure 9 1/2 in. wide x 8 in. long (includes tractor-feed paper). Document-insert checks are 8 1/2 in. wide x 9 1/8 in. long. The check does not fit in a standard 10 window envelope.

C - Same check format as option B except the CAN and the member number do not print on the face of the check.

D - Alternate check print format that allows the check to fit in a standard 10 window envelope. The system prints the free-form transaction summary on the stub portion of check. The member number and the CAN print on the face of the check. Continuous-form checks are 9 1/2 in. wide x 8 in. long. Document-insert checks are 8 1/2 in. wide x 9 1/8 in. long.

E - Same check format as option D except the CAN and the member number do not print on the check.

When B, C, D, or E appears in this field and the Enable Receipts option is not selected, the system will only print the transaction detail information on the check stub if there is enough room to print all the information. A receipt will not print.

When B, C, D, or E appears in this field and the Enable Receipts option is selected, the system will only print the transaction detail information on the check stub if there is enough room to print all the information. If there is not enough room on the check stub, the system prints the message PLEASE SEE RECEIPT FOR TRANSACTION DETAIL on the check stub. A receipt will print.

When A, B, C, D, or E appears in this field and but a check printer is not specified on the Print Profile dialog box, the system will complete the financial transaction but will not produce a check.

This is a branch-level field.

(Portico Host: 904 Transaction - CHK FORMAT field)

Message Printer

The printer where the Portico message (550 Message) will automatically print for the credit union branch receiving the message. This is a branch-level field.

Audit CD-Rom

No longer used.

Auto 891/892

If selected, The system generates the Morning/Evening Reports (891 and 892 Transactions) automatically during the back-office cycle. The report summary produce appears the following morning on the Morning/Evening Reports window. The system resets the totals to zero during the back-office cycle.

If not selected, the credit union generates the Morning/Evening Reports (891 and 892 Transactions) at a credit union-selected time.

This is a branch-level field.

MIS Option

No longer used.

Print Employee Balances

If selected, employee balances will print on receipts.

Users with the permission can update this credit union-level field. Click the Save button to save changes to the fields in this section only. Please use caution when making changes to your credit union's processing rules.

Electronic Receipts

If selected, the credit union supports sending electronic receipts via email. Once this option is selected, Default check boxes or Send receipts check boxes appear for member email addresses. Select the Default or Send receipts check box to indicate the default email address that should be used for electronic receipts. If all three Default or Send receipts check boxes are selected as default email addresses, all three email addresses will be used to send the email receipt. At least one Default or Send receiptscheck box must be selected to send an email receipt.

Electronic receipts follow the user-level receipt option selected on the Receipt tab of the Print Profile – Preferences dialog box and the transaction-level receipt option selected from the printer icon menu on the Portico toolbar. If the user-level receipt option is not activated, a receipt will not print or be sent via email regardless of the member’s receipt delivery preference on the Stmts/Reporting/Notices tab. If the transaction-level receipt option is disabled, a receipt will not be sent via email regardless of the member’s receipt delivery preference; however, the receipt will be imaged and saved in Nautilus Essentials as it is today.

Electronic receipts are not generated for the following activity:

  • ACH Exception Items
  • Share Draft Exception Items
  • On-Us Check Cashing
  • Bonus Dividends
  • Share Journal Voucher
  • Shared Service Center transactions
  • ATM and debit card transactions

Member signatures do not appear on electronic receipts. You cannot retrieve email receipts through Virtual Branch online banking.

The following fields and check boxes appear in the Member Status 190/191 section on the Print tab:

Field/Check Box Description
Printer ID

The network printer where the member status will print if a printer is not defined in the Member Status field on the Assigned - Online tab on the Print Profile dialog box. If a printer is not defined in the Member Status field or the Printer ID field, the system prints the member status report using the printer specified in the Administration field on the Assigned - Online tab on the Print Profile dialog box.

Credit unions with document-insert printers will print the member status report on the printer specified in the Administration field on the Assigned - Online tab on the Print Profile dialog box.

Length: 8 alphanumeric

Reset Frequency

The frequency the member status counter is reset. This field also determines the period the transactions are counted. The valid options are:

M - Monthly reset of counter

Q - Quarterly reset of counter. System default.

A fee can be assessed when more than three member status reports are printed using the Print Full Member Status dialog box during the indicated period.

(Portico Host: 905 Transaction - RST FRQ field)

Inquiry Fee

The fee amount charged for each member status printed during the period. A valid fee can range from 0 through 999.99. This fee is assessed only when the counter exceeds three. The statement message, FEE MBR STATUS, prints on the member statement if the system charges a fee. Portico withdraws the fee from the lowest share type unless otherwise specified in the Fee Share Type field on the Print Full Member Status dialog box. The system takes the fee at the same time you perform the Print Full Member Status dialog box.

Users with the Portico - System (Profiles) - Credit Union (Print) - Maintain permission can update this credit union-level field. Click the Save button to save changes to the fields in this section only. The host transaction code (e.g. 902) in the section heading assists you with reviewing the audit report that documents updates to these fields. Please use caution when making changes to your credit union's processing rules.

Date/Amount

If selected, the loan's original date and amount will print on the member status.

The following fields and check boxes appear in the Credit Union Check Disbursement section on the Print tab:

Field/Check Box Description
Laser Checks If selected, the credit union generates checks using a laser printer.
Print Name

If selected, the credit union name from the Credit Union Profile - Credit Union tab will print on checks.

(Portico Host: 904 Transaction - PRINT NAME field)

Protection

If selected, Portico will print the words for check amounts over 99 cents on the check. For example, if the amount is $16,000, the system will print SIXTEEN THOUSAND AND 00/100 DOLLARS on the check. For check amounts 99 cents and under, Portico will print ZERO AND XX/100, where XX equals the cents.

(Portico Host: 904 Transaction - PROTECTION field)

Check Payee Name Option

Determines the default name that will appear on the Check Writer dialog box. This field is defined at the branch level, and is not maintainable by the credit union. The valid options are:

OS - Payee name must be entered on Check Writer. System default.

ON - Print the alternate name entered on screen

OP - Print the account’s primary name and the alternate name

PN - Print the primary name without an address

2N - Print the joint owner’s name without an address

2A - Print joint name and primary selected address for withdrawal, loan advance

Blank – Print member name and selected address for withdrawal, loan advance
