How do I? and Field Help

The following fields on the Loans – Delinquency tab provide additional information regarding the delinquent loan.

Field Description

Total Amount

The amount the loan is delinquent. The delinquent amount includes the principal and interest due for loans using Method B. Method D loans use the scheduled payment amount times the number of payments missed. This field is calculated by the system and cannot be maintained.

Length: 12 numeric including decimal

Principal

The total principal amount the loan is delinquent based on Delinquency Method B. Zero appears for Method D loans. This field is calculated by the system and cannot be maintained.

Length: 12 numeric including decimal

Interest

The total interest amount the loan is delinquent based on Delinquency Method B. Zero appears for Method D loans. This field is calculated by the system and cannot be maintained.

Length: 9 numeric including decimal

Late Charges

The late charge amount due on the loan. The late charge is automatically calculated based on options specified on the Loan Profiles window.

If the Exclude from Late Charges check box is selected on the Loans - Interest/Charges tab, the system will not calculate a late charge for the member.

If the Multiply by number of missed payments check box is selected on the Loan Profiles - Collections/Late Charges tab, the late charge will be calculated using the number of payments the loan is past due. If a payment is applied which does not cover all of the payments past due, the late charge amount calculated and collected at transaction time will be a late charge based on the transaction amount, not on the number of payments past due.

Length: 8 numeric including decimal

Uncollected Late Charges

When the Defer Late Charges check box is selected on the Loan Profiles - Collections/Late Charges tab, this field indicates the total amount of late charges that have been deferred on the loan. This field is updated by Portico when the late charge for a loan type is deferred at the time of the loan payment.

When the Late Charges Calculation Method field on the Loan Profiles - Collections/Late Charges tab is set to A - Late charges are assessed in the back-office cycle the loan is eligible for the fee, this field indicates the total amount of late charges that have been assessed on the loan. This field is updated by Portico when the late charge for a payment type 7 loan type is assessed in the back-office cycle the loan is eligible for the fee. Loans that have late charges assessed in the back-office cycle may also have late charges deferred when a payment is applied.

When the Rule 1 field on the Loan Profiles - Collections/Late Charges tab is W - Wisconsin late charges, this field indicates the total amount of late charges that were calculated but not collected when a payment was applied. This amount, plus any newly calculated late charges, will automatically be collected if enough funds are paid with the next applied payment.

Total Delinquent Amount Due

The delinquent amount due on a loan plus any late charges. The Total Delinquent Amount Due is the Total Amount + Late Charges + Deferred Late Charges. Loans with Delinquency Method D will always reflect 0.00 in the Principal and Interest fields.

Number of Payments

The number of payments the loan is delinquent. This is the number of payments to bring the loan current if using Method D. Method B loans must pay the delinquent amount to print the loan current. This field is updated by the system and is used for reporting purposes.

Length: 3 numeric

Number of Days

The number of delinquent days. This field will not appear for loans with Delinquency Method B.

In the Notices group box, you can generate notices and change the number of notices generated for the delinquent loan.

Notices Counter

The number of delinquency notices (Report 440) produced during the current delinquency period. This counter is updated in the next back-office cycle following the cycle that produced the notices.

Up to four different notices can be produced during one delinquency period. The counter determines which notice is produced.

If the number 9 appears in this field, the system has produced a Delinquency Method B notice. The Method B Notices check box must be selected on the Credit Union Profile - Loans tab.

When the number is 9, the system generated a Method B notice which is created when the member is delinquent according to Method B and has a delinquent amount but a current due date. This usually indicates the member has made all payments but not according to the loan terms.

When the number is 1, 2, or 3, the system generated the notice based on missed due dates regardless of the delinquency method.

To send an account to Collections, change the Send to Collections drop-down list to Y - Force Send to Collections and click Save. Portico will add the account to Collections in the back-office cycle and record the action in non-financial history.

The following day, the account will appear in the Tickler File grid with the status Forced, and the Send to Collections field on the Loans - Delinquency tab will be changed to C-Loan Forced into Collections. The account will have a green C indicator if the account has a positive balance or the loan is current. If the account has a negative balance or the loan is delinquent, the account will have a red C indicator. When the account is sent to Collections, it is given a tickler date and automatically assigned to a Collection officer using the criteria on the Auto Transfer window.

If an account is forced to Collections and then meets the delinquency/negative criteria in the back-office cycle to be in Collections, Portico will change the Send to Collections field to D-Loan Sent to Collections.

You can stop an account from being sent to Collections if you change the Send to Collections field to N - Do Not Send to Collections and click Save on the same day that you originally set the Send to Collections field to Y - Force Send to Collections.

The Purged from Collections Date field indicates the date the loan was purged from Collections. If the Collections system is not used, or if the loan or credit card is still in collections and has never purged, this date will be blank. If the same loan or credit card has purged from Collections multiple times, this date will be the last time the account was purged. The automatic updating of the purge date field will be reported on the 030 and 036 Reports and the non-financial history.

The Purged from Collections User ID field indicates the user ID of the user who purged the loan from Collections. (Reporting Analytics: Coll Purge UserID - Loan Base query subject in the Loan folder and ME Loan Base query subject in the Month-end Information\Loan Month-end folder)

Select Delinquency Method B (Amortization Schedule) check box if delinquency method B is used to calculate delinquency on the loan. Delinquency Method B is the acceptable method for calculating delinquency on closed end loans with a term greater than 15 years. Delinquency Method B recognizes the time value of money. There is a significant difference in the calculations. Method B uses an amortization schedule; therefore, the delinquency calculation compares the principal balance of the loan's current status to the amortization schedule. If the actual loan balance is greater than the loan balance of the amortization schedule, the loan is then considered delinquent. Once it is determined there are principal funds in arrears, the delinquent interest is then added to the balance to arrive at the total delinquent amount, which is the true time value of money. Changing delinquency method from B to D or from D to B will impact delinquency calculations. Payment type 004 loans do not support delinquency method B. Payment type 004 is being discontinued and no longer available for new loan types. The Delinquency Method B (Amortization Schedule) check box will be disabled if the loan type has payment type 007. The Online History check box must be selected in the Delinquency Options section on the Credit Union Profile - Loans tab.
