Defining ZIP Code Associations

Related Topics

The Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window lets you define specific ZIP code ranges that are associated with specific branches to be considered for the automated branch change criteria. For example, if branch 003 is located in Florida, you would specify all the ZIP codes for Florida as the range for branch 003. The automated branch change occurs when you perform the Member Branch Assignment Transfers window. To use the Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window, the Automated Branch Change check box must be selected on the Credit Union Profile - Credit Union tab.

To access the Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window, on the Portico Explorer Bar, click General Operations in the Operations menu. On the General Operations menu bar, click Member Branch Assignment, point to Administration, then click ZIP Code Associations.

Members are not allowed in branch 000 if your credit union uses branch accounting. If Y appears in the Member Activity field on the 140 Report Rules, the system will transfer the member to the branch where the most activity occurred if the member is not already in that branch. If Y appears in the Zip Codes field on the 140 Report Rules, the system will transfer the member to the branch associated with the ZIP code range when you perform the Member Branch Assignment Transfers window. If a member appears on the Member Branch Assignment Transfers window with a ZIP code that is not included in the ranges on the Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window, you can access the Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window and add the ZIP code range. The system will update the Member Branch Assignment Transfers window immediately, so that the member can be transferred to the proper branch.

The Excluded Branches group box list the branches specified on the 140 Report Rules that should be excluded from the Member Branch Change process. The branches listed will prevent any qualifying members from being moved from that branch. If a branch is specified in the Associated Branch field on Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window and the Exclude Branches field lists the branch as excluded, qualifying members can be moved into the excluded branch but cannot be moved out of the excluded branch. If you want to exclude members from moving into or out of a certain branch, list the branch in the Exclude Branches field on the 140 Report Rules, and do not list the branch in the Associated Branch field on the Member Branch Assignment ZIP Code Associations window.
