Verifying a Guest Member with Reverse Lookup

Related Topics

For credit unions using the CO-OP Shared Branching network, Portico provides a Reverse Look Up feature that allows you to retrieve guest member account information using their Social Security Number, draft ID (Book Number) or date of birth followed by the last 4 digits of their SSN (MMDDYYYYSSSS).

How do I?

You can select the Reverse Look Up option from the Request Accounts drop-down list on the Shared Service Center Transaction tab.

Reverse Lookup

To retrieve guest member account information using the guest member's Social Security Number, select the Social Security Number lookup option from the drop-down list and enter the Social Security Number of the guest member. When you click the green arrow on the toolbar, Portico will send a Reverse Look Up request to the issuer. If the issuer credit union is a Portico credit union, the system will first attempt to match the SSN against the SSN of the primary member on the account from the Contact Information tab. If 25 accounts are found that match the primary SSN, Portico will discontinue the search and respond with those 25 accounts. If Portico does not find a maximum of 25 accounts that match the primary SSN, then Portico will attempt to match the SSN with a joint SSN from the Account Relationships dialog box. Portico will search all of the joint SSNs until either a total of 25 primary and joint accounts are found, or Portico has found all matching SSNs and responds to the acquirer with the accounts found. If the SSN is on an account multiple times, then the account will only be listed one time in the response. Primary accounts will be listed first followed by joint accounts.

To retrieve guest member account information using the Draft ID (Book Number), select the Draft ID (Book Number) lookup option from the drop-down list and enter the draft ID of the guest member. If the issuer credit union is a Portico credit union, the system will attempt to match the draft ID against the draft IDs listed on the Shares – Draft Info tab and Loans – Loan Drafts tab to identify a single associated account.

To retrieve guest member account information using the Date of Birth followed by the last 4 digits of their SSN (MMDDYYYYSSSS), select the DOB+SSN Last 4 (MMDDYYYYSSSS) lookup option from the drop-down list and enter the guest member's date of birth followed by the last 4 digits of their SSN (MMDDYYYYSSSS). If the issuer credit union is a Portico credit union, the system will attempt to match the date of birth and last 4 digits of the SSN against the SSN and date of the birth for primary member on the account from the Contact Information tab. If 25 accounts are found that match the primary SSN and date of birth, Portico will discontinue the search and respond with those 25 accounts.

When searching through the joint accounts Portico will only search the following relationship values:

A – Authorized Signer
J – Joint Owner
T - Trustee
E – Executor of Estate Account

All other relationship values will not be included in the search for joint accounts.

Accounts that have the Block All Shared Service Center Transactions check box selected on the Stmts/Reporting/Notices tab will not be included in the response to the acquirer.
