Using Journal Voucher Batches
Journal Voucher batches let you automatically schedule recurring and future post-dated general ledger entries on Portico. You can enter general ledger entries once and instruct Portico to automatically schedule and/or post the entries at a specific frequency. You can also post general ledger entries online, real time by overriding the default back-office processing method.
Journal Voucher batches run in the P.M. pass of Portico’s back-office cycle. The post date determines when a batch posts. If the post date is the processing date, the batch will run in the P.M. pass. For example, if the post date is 2/15/12, the batch will post the night of 2/15/12.
Journal Voucher batches lets you complete the following activities:
- Create and save a group of general ledger journal voucher entries as a batch entry.
- Schedule a recurring batch of entries to post automatically in the back office cycle without user intervention or in the back office cycle with user intervention.
- Post a batch online, real time.
- Copy information from one batch to another.
- Retrieve batch information by batch name, teller ID, frequency, next post date and status.
- Print online batch information to a defined printer.
Journal Voucher batches supports the following:
- A one-time or recurring posting of a batch entry, as well as the posting of a batch online, real time or in the back office cycle.
- User-defined security for inquiry, maintenance and posting options.
- Receipt processing for online, real time batch posting.
- Up to 5,000 journal voucher entries per batch can be entered and balanced online prior to posting.
Journal Voucher batches retains previously posted batch information online for 60 days and allows reversal of a previously posted batch for up to 60 days.
