The User Logon dialog box should automatically appear when you start Portico.
If the User Logon dialog box does not appear, select User Security from the Teller Management menu or select Tools, then select User Security.
- On the User Logon dialog box, you can enter your email address from the User - Update window or your Portico user ID (cu22222jxm). The maximum field length is 100 alphanumeric. To use your email address to sign in Portico, you must have a unique email address specified on the User - Update window. If you attempt to sign in with an email address that you share with other credit union employees, an error message appears indicating that your logon credentials are invalid.
- Then, enter your Portico password (Length: 15 alphanumeric).

A message appears on the User Logon dialog box indicating that you should enter your Fiserv Single Sign-In password if you enrolled in Fiserv Single Sign-In. Refer to the Fiserv Single Sign-In section of the online help to learn more.
- If you do not use the auto-logon feature, you may enter the branch number to log into in the Branch ID field (Length: 3 numeric). Then, enter the 2-character teller ID in the Teller ID field. If you use the auto-logon feature, you do not need to enter your branch and teller ID.
- To automatically display the Open tab to open your teller drawer, select the Begin Teller Open Process check box.
- The Credit Union ID field displays the 5-digit credit union ID assigned to the credit union.
- Select the Remember Portico User checkbox to automatically fill in your user ID or email address the next time you sign in.
- Then, click OK to sign in.
When you select OK, an email will be sent to the email address specified on the User - Update window and the Confirmation Code prompt will appear. Enter the confirmation code and select OK.

You are now logged into Portico. Once you have completed the multi-factor authentication process from a specific device, you do not need to repeat it again for 72 hours if logging in from the same device with the same IP address. For example, you log off at the end of the day and log back into Portico the next morning. Portico will remember that you completed the multi-factor authentication 24 hours earlier and will not prompt you again to enter a confirmation code until the 72-hour limit has been met.
The 72-hour limit cannot be customized.
If the system generating the confirmation code does not respond to Portico's confirmation code request, Portico will determine if your user ID and password are correct, then bypass the Confirmation Code prompt and log you into Portico.
What should I do if I don't receive an email with a confirmation code? First, check your email Spam or Junk folder to see if the email is there. If you don't see the email, you may have mistyped your user ID on the initial User Logon dialog box. Select Cancel and retry the login process.
If you still don't receive a confirmation code email, ask your credit union system administrator to check the User - Update window for your user ID. Make sure that your user ID is active and that there is a valid, unique email address specified for your user ID.
What should I do if I entered my confirmation code, but I get an error message? If you enter your confirmation code and you receive the following error message, select OK. If you are copying and pasting the confirmation code from your email, try entering your confirmation code again. Be sure to check for any blank spaces after the confirmation code being copied and pasted into the field.

If you enter the confirmation code incorrectly 5 times, your user ID status will be changed to Suspended and you will be locked out of Portico until your account is reactivated by your Portico administrator.
If you continue to receive the error message, then you may have entered your user ID or password incorrectly on the initial User Logon dialog box. Select the Cancel button on the Confirmation Code prompt and begin the login process again. You can also ask your credit union system administrator to review the User - Update window to ensure that your user ID is correct, your user ID is Active, and your user email address is correct. The Last Failed Logon Reason field provides an indication on why you were unable to log into Portico. The Invalid Logon Attempts report also lists the failed logon reason.
If you continue to receive the error message, contact Portico Client Services and provide the reference number listed in the error message.
If your credit union's email system is down, contact Portico Client Services to temporarily disable the multi-factor authentication process for your credit union. This will allow you to log into Portico without a confirmation code. Be sure to notify Portico when your email system is functioning again to enable the multi-factor authentication process.
If your credit union is unable to connect to Portico requiring you to login using Offline Processing, the system will bypass the Confirmation Code prompt allowing you to log into Portico.
Will I receive a confirmation code if my password expired and I was issued a temporary password? Yes. Enter your user ID, temporary password, branch, and teller ID on the User Logon dialog box. When you select OK, the Confirmation Code prompt will appear. Enter the confirmation code sent to your email. When you select OK, the expired password message appears.
After five failed attempts to enter your user credentials correctly, your user ID status will be changed to Suspended and you will be locked out of Portico until your account is reactivated by your Portico administrator.
Verifast User Logon
For Verifast users, the Verifast palm authentication application runs in the background on your workstation. When you click the Portico icon, Verifast recognizes the Portico User Logon and prompts you to scan your palm. Once scanned, Verifast can automatically complete all the log-in information (user ID, password, branch, and teller) and click OK to log you into Portico. Or, you can instruct Verifast to only complete the log-in information you choose, allowing you to manually enter a branch and click OK to log into Portico. The Confirmation Code prompt will appear requiring you to enter the confirmation code sent to your email. You can manage your Portico credentials through Verifast on the Manage Passwords > Manage Vault window. Select Portico Logon and enter your user ID, password, branch teller on separate lines to populate the Portico fields.
Default Branch/Teller ID
If you do not use the auto-logon feature, and you did not enter your branch and teller ID, your default branch and teller ID from your User Profile – Security tab will appear on the User Logon dialog box.
- Verify your default branch and teller ID. If they are not correct, enter the correct branch and teller ID.
- If you have not already done so, select the Begin Teller Open Process check box to automatically display the Open tab to open your teller drawer.
- Click OK.
If the Enforce Branch/Teller ID Combination check box is selected on the Branch/Teller ID Assignment window for a specific user, and you selected a default branch and teller on the User Profile – Security tab, you can leave the Branch ID and Teller ID fields blank on the User Logon dialog box and Portico will complete the logon process using the default teller and branch.
If you did not select a default teller and branch on the User Profile – Security tab and you leave the Branch ID and Teller ID fields blank on the User Logon dialog box, a Branch/Teller ID drop-down list will appear. Select a branch and teller ID from the drop-down list.
Concurrent Session Prevention
Portico will prevent you from logging into multiple sessions of Portico at the same time with the same user ID. When logging into or refreshing a session, Portico will verify that another active session is not currently in process. If the Close Other Active Session at Logon check box on the Credit Union Profile – Security tab is selected and you attempt to log into a new session while logged into an existing session, the following message will appear.

You can click Yes to close the existing session and log into a new session. If the Close Other Active Session at Logon check box is not selected and you attempt to log into a new session while logged into an existing session, a message will appear, and you must click OK, then manually log out of the active session.
